MANGA LETTERERS
Job Type: Freelance, Project-Based, Remote (files exchanged online)
Status: [HIRING]
Duties: Work with original Japanese manga pages to replace Japanese text with a provided English translation, providing touch-up art where necessary.
Requirements:
– Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign a must.
– Previous professional manga, comic book, or webcomic lettering experience required.
– Ability to seamlessly retouch/restore pure black & white screentone artwork in Photoshop at high-res, press-ready quality.
– Ability to follow a script and style guide with attention to detail and accuracy.
– Good communication and time management skills (English).
– Internet access with sufficient bandwidth to receive and deliver large work files.
– Must love manga and be familiar with the presentation of official English translated editions released by Seven Seas Entertainment and other publishers.
**All applicants will be required to do a Seven Seas lettering test to ensure house-style can be followed.**

Do I need to live in the USA to submit?
– No, our freelancers live all over the world! However, strong communication and understanding in English is a must.
Do letterers get to choose what series they work on?
– While a letterer is welcome to request a title they’re interested in, assignments are offered based on availability and whether a letterer’s personal style and experience complements a title. Our editors present assignments to letterers based on these factors, and then it is up to them to accept. Letterers who take on a series are typically automatically assigned each volume in the series until its completion.
